D.C. is a fount of activity these days after Republican House Speaker Kevin McCarthy was “fired” under the leadership of conservative upstart Matt Gaetz.

After fits and tantrums, the Republicans finally elected Mike Johnson of Louisiana as Speaker.

To get an idea of why it all happened, watch this:

This weekend, Johnson began to fulfill what McCarthy promised but apparently never meant to follow through on - release over 40,000 hours of J6 tapes from all kinds of angles and views. It is undermining the Left’s narrative of the “insurrection” of January 6, 2020.

At least one Republican leader spoke hyperbolically when he said:

What do the tapes show?

So many have been frustrated at the inaction by elected leaders who promise “to get to the bottom of this,” only to appear to be submerged in the swamp themselves. Their professed intentions never materialize, and no one is held accountable for the buffoonery of the past.

“The only thing necessary for the triumph of evil is for good men to do nothing.”

“It’s a quote routinely attributed to Edmund Burke. But it turns out falsely so. Apparently, he never uttered these words. At best, the essence of the quote can be traced back to the utilitarian philosopher John Stuart Mill, who delivered an 1867 inaugural address at the University of St. Andrews and stated:”1

"Let not any one pacify his conscience by the delusion that he can do no harm if he takes no part, and forms no opinion. Bad men need nothing more to compass their ends, than that good men should look on and do nothing. He is not a good man who, without a protest, allows wrong to be committed in his name, and with the means which he helps to supply, because he will not trouble himself to use his mind on the subject.”

IMHO, many thousands of people tried to do "something" on J6, and somehow the script was flipped,2 bad actors were present, and innocents were swept into a crafted narrative that the release of the J6 tapes will reveal.

I don't dispute that hotheads were present, that the day was traumatic for many, that injuries and death occurred. I do dispute that it was an organized “insurrection.” Does anyone really think the United States government could be overthrown by a group of people walking through the Capitol, taking selfies, stealing podiums, and wearing costumes?3

I believe the Democrat-led J6 Committee willfully ignored (and destroyed) evidence4 and that as years-long, suppressed evidence comes to light, many will be exonerated. What remains to be seen is, will the guilty be punished?

Will good people still do nothing?

On the to Roundup, Part 1

There is SO MUCH to cover, that I’ll be doing this in two installments. Here’s part 1:

In a bit of surreal irony, in the April 21 RoundUp, I covered these two tidbits:

  2. Tsunami of bad news on the Bidens

We will look at both of those again in this post:

Another indictment of President Trump

Just when he got good news from the long-awaited release of the Durham Report1 on May 15, President Trump got indicted again on June 9 for mishandling classified documents (think Mar-A-Lago raid).2

The Durham Report was a multi-year investigation into the accused collusion with Russia by President Trump. The 308-page report fully exonerated him.

“Durham’s report confirmed that the FBI launched a politically motivated witch hunt against Trump, using the flimsiest of pretexts to “swiftly” launch an investigation into him while ignoring intelligence that Clinton’s campaign planned to accuse Trump of colluding with Russia to distract from her private server woes.”3

We also learned from the Durham Report that the FBI was instructed to shut down at least three investigations into the Clintons.4

Trump’s second indictment “marks the first time a former president has faced federal charges.”5

Bad news on the Bidens

IRS whistleblowers have continued to come forward revealing that the Biden family received millions of dollars from foreign powers during Joe Biden’s vice-presidency, with Hunter Biden at the helm of a massive corruption scheme.

The unmasking of the COVID pandemic

If you’re still thinking the global response to the pandemic was a wise course of action, you should probably just move the mask you’re still wearing when you’re outside and alone in your car up to cover your eyes. You’re in denial, and I can’t help you. Others have exposed motivations, uncovered uncomfortable truths, and are seeking to hold those with malicious intent accountable. The rest of us just got caught up in the hysteria. For some of us, the pandemic lasted 24 hours; for others, it lasted three years. Your political persuasion can be determined by how long it last for you.

Here’s a sampling:

  • On Friday, May 5, the WHO declared that COVID was no longer a global health emergency.6 Back in September 2022, President Biden said the pandemic was “over,” but it wasn’t until April 11, 2023 that he signed documents ending the national emergency (he was forced to do so by a bi-partisan bill through Congress).7

  • Dissenters are unrelenting in their determination to re-educate the public on the wrong-headedness and corruption uncovered in the government response to the pandemic.

  • The MSM was on the payroll of Big Pharma. CNN’s Anderson Cooper made at least $10 million from Pfizer, according to presidential candidate Robert F. Kennedy Jr.8

  • Masks did not work to stop the spread of COVID.

“The most rigorous and extensive review of the scientific literature concludes that neither surgical masks nor N95 masks make a difference in reducing the spread of COVID-19 and other respiratory illnesses.”9

  • There are very real injuries, death and catastrophic financial loss as a result of the COVID vaccines and global lockdowns.

“A new report estimates that 26.6 million people were injured, 1.36 million disabled, and 300,000 excess deaths can be attributed to COVID-19 vaccine damages in 2022 alone, which cost the economy nearly $150 billion.”10

  • Boosters aren’t working well, and most people don’t need them.11

Biggest baptism in U.S. history

The spiritual movement that was highlighted by the Asbury Revival in February continues to make waves across the country. Especially in California, as over 4000 people were baptized in Pirates’ Cove on May 28.12

Trump’s indictment

A majority of Americans thought it a really bad idea to indict a former President for years-old, specious crimes. It smacks of politics.

Here’s what college students had to say about the indictment from a Wall Street Journal column:1

  • “…[Bragg] dug up an old case that was previously declined by federal prosecutors and decided to indict a declared candidate of the opposing political party on the eve of an election cycle. There is no semblance of plausible deniability here—this is a power play from a local politician to interfere with national politics.” ~ Rafael Arbex-Murut, University of California, Berkeley

  • “It is crucial for Mr. Trump to be prosecuted and brought to justice for his acts—it’s essential for upholding democracy and justice in America.” ~ Fernando Alvarez, University of Nevada

  • “.. the charges brought against Mr. Trump are staggeringly unserious… Now it’s time for Judge Juan Merchan to dismiss this case.” ~ Jack Harkin, St. John’s University

  • “How can a democracy function if we spend years using the full force of the national-security state and criminal-justice system to investigate, find an alleged crime, and then arrest political opponents using a novel legal theory? It can’t.” ~ Kyle Lynaugh, University of Chicago

A tsunami of bad news for the Bidens

Try as they might, the connections and corruption associated with the Biden family aren’t being censored anymore. Remember when over 50 officials from the intelligence community took out a full page ad, signed their names and claimed that Hunter Biden’s laptop was Russian disinformation before the 2020 election?2 Well, we found out this week that was all a lie, concocted and orchestrated by the Biden campaign.3 We also continue to see an unsavory $$-trail from China and Ukraine into the Biden family coffers as House Republicans initiate their investigation.4 Oh, and remember the Trump Mar-al-Lago raid because Trump had classified documents? Now we know that Biden had more at several different, unsecured locations, AND that Biden White House helped organize the raids5 (they claimed to learn about them through the MSM at the time).

Virginia Tech Women’s Basketball Team

Living in Blacksburg is exciting for collegiate sports. I’m primarily a football fan, but the Hokies have been a lot like the Razorbacks since we’ve lived here (as in… three games into the season, we’re saying, “Just wait til next year!”). This year, however, it was the Hokies Women’s Basketball Team that electrified the campus and community. They made it to the Final Four for the first time in program history, and they were a LOT of fun to watch.

U.S. Catholic Bishops flex on the transgender movement

“The United States Catholic Bishops have issued guidelines banning surgical and chemical intervention aimed at exchanging ‘the sex characteristics of a patient’s body for those of the opposite sex.’ ..'.puberty blockers and sex reassignment surgery, insisting that the do not promote the authentic good of the human person but are, in fact, injurious.”7

Changing COVID Policies at the CDC

After last week’s two-years-late policy changes at the CDC regarding COVID2, Ian Miller over at Unmasked goes scorched earth taking the CDC, Dr. Fauci and school districts to task:

Three key factions continue to work together in conjunction to prolong the pandemic.

  1. “Experts” like Dr. Fauci, whose massive ego led to a bewildering claim to stand for “truth,” have helped contribute legitimacy to school administrators incapable of moving past their politically motivated restrictions.

  2. The CDC, whose guidance that was much too late to fix the damage caused by their incompetence and who still haven’t ended the unscientific ban on unvaccinated travelers.
