New episode of Ordinary Celebrity podcast features David James
It’s not often that you want to have an interview with your former boss. This interview was one I looked forward to, and I was grateful to another person I interviewed (Jeremy Woodall-listen to his episode) for the idea.
David James
David James is not just my former boss. He’s a dear friend. David led the Collegiate Ministry Team for Arkansas Baptists for over 30 years. He announced his retirement 4 years ago, and yet he’s currently serving as the interim campus minister for Baptist Collegiate Ministry at the University of Arkansas at Little Rock.
You will be inspired and encouraged as you listen to this episode about why David answered the call to serve as a college minister and later become the facilitator for college ministry across the state of Arkansas. It was no small task! Many campus ministers (self included) can be a notorious group of independent-minded mavericks. David had a uniquely wonderful way of herding cats and focusing the leaders he supervised on a Vision larger than their little visions.
For those of you new to Ordinary Celebrity, here’s a quick glimpse into its focus:
“Celebrity” simply means “someone/something worthy of celebrating.” When I realized that, this podcast was birthed. Whether someone has achieved public celebrity or they are your next-door neighbor, classmate, parent, or co-worker, everyone has something worth celebrating. Everyone has a story. And even the glitziest celebrity is wonderfully ordinary. Their celebrity often obscures more notable beauty about their personhood. And that’s what this podcast is designed to reveal and celebrate!
And as I mention in the pilot episode, my “celebrity crush” is Tom Cruise. Maybe, just maybe this podcast (through a “seven degrees of separation” miracle) will allow me to sit down with Tom over a cup of coffee and a microphone.
