The Roundup: Week Ending October 28, 2022
Elon Musk, ozone hole shrinking, Liz Truss and Rishi Sunak, a $$$ iPhone and more
The RoundUp collects the most recent news, listens and observations that caught my attention. I missed last week - just got busy. No one complained. ;) So here are a few things that caught my attention in the last two weeks:
Elon Musk finalized his purchase of Twitter and walked into HQ carrying a sink.
Upcoming mid-term elections: Red Wave?
Lawsuit against government-sponsored censorship during COVID progresses
Liz Truss: New Prime Minister of England resigns after 45 days on the job
Factory-sealed original iPhone sold in auction
Boston researchers develop a lethal, highly contagious strain of COVID in the lab
The hole in the ozone layer is shrinking!
According to NASA and NOAA scientists, the ozone layer is shrinking
Isn’t that what some was saying was causing global warming?
20 years ago NASA was saying, “"The ozone hole isn't going to go away for a long time… This is because the lifetimes of CFCs and HCFCs and halons are so long. We might be back to 1979 levels sometime around 2050 or so."
Liz Truss earns distinction as shortest term for UK Prime Minister
She served 45 days.
One concerned UK citizen said, “I think I'm right in saying that we have now had the shortest-reigning Prime Minister in history, the shortest-reigning Chancellor in history, and the shortest-reigning Home Secretary in history.”The new prime minister was announced this week: Rishi Sunak. He’s apparently fabulously wealthy.
And a leading member of the World Economic Forum. No worries there at all, right? Some big names are called to testify in the lawsuit against government-sponsored censorship

A federal court ordered on Oct. 21 that Dr. Anthony Fauci and other top officials testify under oath at depositions in a case that has uncovered evidence of alleged federal government collusion with Big Tech companies to censor users.
The attorneys general of Louisiana and Missouri and other plaintiffs allege that Fauci, director of the National Institute of Allergies and Infectious Diseases (NIAID) and President Joe Biden’s chief medical adviser, and other defendants colluded and coerced social media companies to “suppress disfavored speakers, viewpoints, and content” regarding COVID-19.
U.S. District Judge Terry Doughty went a step further than a previous ruling that forced written testimonies and ordered Fauci and other defendants to testify under oath at depositions.
“After finding documentation of a collusive relationship between the Biden Administration and social media companies to censor free speech, we immediately filed a motion to get these officials under oath,” Missouri Attorney General Eric Schmitt said in a statement.
COVID: What’s the latest?
It just won’t stop. Or at least the U.S. government doesn’t want it to.
The U.S. on Thursday (October 14) extended the public health emergency status for the COVID-19 pandemic, weeks after President Biden's controversial remarks declaring the pandemic was "over." The move extends the order through Jan. 11, 2023, as health officials warn once more of a winter surge.
In a Boston lab, researchers created a strain of COVID that is lethal. Very. Whyyyyyyyy???!!!!
Researchers at Boston University say they have developed a new COVID strain capable of that has an 80% kill rate following a series of experiments first thought to have started the global pandemic that began in China.
The CDC has a PR firm. Guess who else they represent?
Flashback to March 2021: CDC Director Rachel Walensky claims their “data” shows, “Vaccinated people do not carry the virus, don`t get sick. That is not just in the clinical trials but it's also in real world data."
Flashforward to this week: Fully vaxxed and boosted CDC Director Walensky gets COVID
Unopened original iPhone brings in $$ at auction
A Red Wave?
Even widely followed, left-leaning data analyst Nate Silver has dialed back his expectations of a Democratic victory in the Senate from 71% a month ago to 61% on Wednesday. Much of this shift has come in the last two weeks, which is an indication that Republicans are gaining momentum. Signs of a red wave abound.
And what is China up to about it?
Just weeks before the midterm elections, the FBI issued a warning to some of the Democratic and Republican state party headquarters of a possible attack by Chinese hackers.
Elon Musk has entered the building… with a sink
I’d love to see the Twitter employees text messages…
